New York underground MC, Nickel Killsmics, has put together an impressive musical resume.  From his career’s early years as one part of a group called The Linx, who were major players in the local Miami scene; to his rebirth as a solo MC /producer upon his arrival in New York City. Since 2005 he has personally produced and put out four full length releases, some entertaining musical videos, and has made countless cameos with his hip hop crew whose membership now spans across the Northeast U.S. and into several countries.  Calling themselves Money Hungry Bastards, the group which includes Nickel, Mr. Cord, Citizen Kane, Masai Bay, Lifelong, WhichCraft, and about a dozen others, stands for anything but what their moniker may suggest. They boast a collection of cerebral lyrics and lo fi beats that are well respected in many underground circles.  Their motto being, "We don't make music to make money, we make money to make music."

But this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the musical gambit that is Nickel.  In 2010 he released his latest album, “Tragedy & Comedy,” which was musically based on a jam session assembled of some the New York City’s great jazz musicians.  An album release party featuring this band has now expanded into a weekly residency at a well respected jazz club called SMOKE in Manhattan.  Every Thursday for over a year now, the band which is now known as Nickel and Dime OPS, has closed out for Grammy Nominee, Gregory Porter.  Nickel’s strong lyrical presence combined with the music of such great jazz players as Freddie Hendrix, David Gibson, and Joe Stasser, has been gaining much momentum with a following of fans from all walks of life.  By mashing together hip hop and jazz, two genres which have both pretty much plateaued in popularity over recent years, they have been creating something fresh for an audience hungry to hear a more soulful brand of hip hop.
